Ten years I have been a Beatles/McCartney fan, and I finally saw Paul. I even got to see him close up as he hung out the passenger side of his vehicle, driving into the arena.

I think it goes without saying that the summer went by fast.
Last night I posted the lyrics to Elton John's "Mona Lisas and Madhatters", because it's exactly how I feel. It was Suzi, Katherine's, and my last summer night for the year. Of course I'll see Suzi a lot in Oxford, and we're hoping against hope that we'll get to see Katherine more during the school year. We also have Thanksgiving and winter break to get to all hang out together too.. so that's awesome. For some reason, though, saying goodbye last night seemed sadder to me than it has other years.
I have the mixed emotions right now for sure. SO EXCITED to go back, yet sad. It's normal though. This is what happens. Man.. when I drove into Oxford today for work I saw a bunch of parents moving their kids in for freshman move-in day, and I almost started crying like a fool. I remember how hard/weird that day was, and I kept thinking about how those parents are going to miss their kids so much and how difficult it must be to bring them here and leave without them, knowing they're growing up. Right now, these new freshmen are going through the same things I did when I first got here. It's really weird to think about. Life sure has changed since then.. |
